An awesome ebay seller I've gotten to know has agreed to try to make my dd a copy of Kit's scooter dress. We know we probably won't get the fabric exact, but I'd love to get it as close as possible. It is obviously vintage 1930's feedsack type fabric. Do any of you seamstresses out there have a good idea for matching this?
Thanks!

You might find something in "Aunt Grace" fabric.
They're reproduction prints from that era. I just did a goodle search and came up with these. There might be one on this page that's close.
Take a look.

Can someone who has any of the new items please take a close up photo of the fabrics used? I love Kit's scooter outfit too but someone posted that there is no yellow in it. The fabric pattern must play a trick on the eye because it looks like tiny yellow flowers are in it to me.
Looking over Aunt Grace fabrics seems like there might be a similar match there somewhere. Thanks for the Aunt Grace link, AG Seamstress. It's been a long time since I went to that site. There are so many great fabrics there.

The fabric is really pretty. The background is not white, but appears to be a very pale violet color. The flowers are orange with olive green leaves.

Ooo, what pretty fabric! Now I REALLY want Kit's Scooter outfit. Thank you very much, American_Mommy. You're an angel.
I'll have to look through my fabric stash because it seems I had something similar. Not enough for a child's outfit but at least I could make some flour sacks for Kit. They would look cute folded in a doll-size sewing basket, waiting to be turned into something.

I think that what is making this tough is that the background is not orange, mainly the flowers. I'm not seeing a lot of orange flowers. However - in looking at the picture of the fabric posted - it is almost looking like poppies. Interesting. The orange trim might be what makes the orange pop out. There is no yellow in it, but the yellow shoes work. It is an ADORABLE outfit! I love it.

The flowers are orange, but with a lot of red in it, IMO, they are not the same orange as the trim, but the trim does bring out the orange color more.
